French Open was the clear center of his Grand Slam career

He played the French Open 14 times, far more than any other Slam listed. His best results also all came there: finalist in 1970, semifinalist in 1971, and quarterfinalist in 1969.

His peak came in a three-year French Open run

From 1969 to 1971, he improved from quarterfinalist to finalist to semifinalist at Roland Garros. Those three straight deep runs stand out against the rest of his record, which is mostly early-round exits.

He reached his only Grand Slam final at age 22

His lone finalist result came at the 1970 French Open, when he was 22. That was also his best overall Grand Slam finish, and it came before his semifinal run the following year.

His career was long, but the later years were mostly first-round exits

After reaching the French Open round of 16 in 1976, he went on to post four straight French Open R128 results from 1977 through 1983, with appearances at ages 29, 31, 32, 33, and 35.

He was notably more successful at Roland Garros than at the other majors

Across 65 total matches, he went 40-25 overall, but his non-French Open results never went beyond the round of 32. Wimbledon and the US Open each topped out at the round of 32 or round of 64, while the French Open produced all three of his best finishes.
