Peak years came in a tight 1971-1974 window

Gorman’s three semifinal runs all fell between 1971 and 1973: Wimbledon in 1971, the US Open in 1972, and the French Open in 1973. That stretch also produced his best overall sequence, including two additional round-of-16 finishes in 1972 and 1974.

His strongest surface-level consistency was at Wimbledon and the US Open

Wimbledon accounts for one semifinal, two round-of-16 results, one round-of-32, two round-of-128 exits, and one round-of-64 across eight appearances. The US Open is similarly productive, with one semifinal, two round-of-16 finishes, one round-of-32, two round-of-64s, and three round-of-128 exits.

French Open results were more volatile than his other majors

At the French Open, Gorman reached one semifinal in 1973 but also had four early exits at R64 or worse, including two first-round-equivalent R128 losses in 1969 and 1976. His French Open record therefore swings from a peak result to repeated early departures.

His best season by depth was 1972

In 1972 he reached the semifinals at the US Open and the round of 16 at Wimbledon, while also making the round of 64 at the French Open. That was his only year with two results inside the last 16.

He stayed active into his early 30s, but the results tapered sharply

Gorman’s final four listed appearances came at ages 31 to 33, and none went beyond the round of 32. His last two results were both first-round-equivalent losses at Wimbledon in 1979 and 1980.
