Two quarterfinal runs define the peak

Champion’s best Grand Slam results were two quarterfinals, both in 1990 Wimbledon and 1991 Wimbledon. Those are the only results above the round of 32 in his 30-tournament, 57-match Slam career.

French Open was his most productive major

He reached at least the round of 64 at Roland Garros six times, including one quarterfinal, one round of 32, and four round-of-64 finishes. No other Slam appears that consistently strong in his results list.

His best stretch came from 1990 to 1992

Across those three seasons he produced both quarterfinals, plus a round of 32 at Wimbledon in 1992 and a round of 64 at the US Open in 1992. That cluster is the clearest concentration of his top results.

He was already competitive as a teenager

Champion’s first recorded Slam appearance was Wimbledon 1985 at age 18, and he reached the round of 64 by age 19 at the 1986 US Open. By age 20, he had already added a round of 32 at the 1987 Australian Open.

His Slam profile was strongest on clay and grass, not hard courts

His two quarterfinals came at Wimbledon, while his best French Open result was also a quarterfinal. By contrast, his Australian Open and US Open results never went beyond the round of 64.
