Two peaks, both at the same stage

Dent’s best Grand Slam result was the round of 16, and he reached it exactly twice: Wimbledon 2005 and the US Open 2003. Those are his only results better than the round of 32 across 27 tournaments.

US Open was his most productive major

He played the US Open 10 times and produced both of his round-of-16-or-better runs there, plus his only round-of-32 finish in 2009. Across those 10 appearances, he also opened his Slam career there in 1998 with a round of 64.

His strongest stretch came in 2002-2005

From 2002 through 2005, Dent reached at least the round of 32 in seven of 13 Slam appearances, including his two best results. That run also contains his only four-year span with a round of 16 and multiple round-of-32 finishes.

Late-career results dropped sharply after 2005

After the 2005 Wimbledon round of 16, his next five Slam appearances all ended in the round of 64 or worse: 2006 Australian Open, all three majors in 2009, and all four majors in 2010. None of those five runs matched his earlier round-of-32 level.

He was still competitive into his late 20s

Dent’s final Slam appearances came in 2010 at ages 28 and 29, and he still reached the round of 64 in all four majors that year. His career span in the data runs from 1998-2006 and then 2009-2010, showing a clear interruption before the late return.
