Peak Slam run came in 1987–1988

His best results cluster tightly around two seasons: champion at Wimbledon in 1987, finalist at the Australian Open in 1987 and 1988, and semifinalist at Wimbledon in 1984 and the US Open in 1984. That is the clear high-water mark of his Grand Slam career.

Wimbledon was his strongest major

Wimbledon produced his title, one semifinal, one quarterfinal, one round-of-16, two round-of-64 exits, and two round-of-128 exits. No other Slam matches that breadth of deep runs, and his only championship came there.

Australian Open was his most frequent deep-run venue

He reached at least the round of 16 or better in Australia six times: R16 in 1983 and 1989, Q in 1982 and 1984, and finals in 1987 and 1988. That makes it his most consistently productive tournament by repeated advancement.

Late-career results fell sharply after age 29

After turning 29, his Slam results were all first-week exits: R128 at the Australian Open and Wimbledon in 1995, R128 at the US Open in 1996, and R128 at Wimbledon and the Australian Open in 1997. His last deeper run was R64 at Wimbledon and the Australian Open in 1992.

He was already a major contender as a teenager

At age 19 in 1984, he made the semifinals at both Wimbledon and the US Open, while also reaching the Australian Open quarterfinals. That same year also included a French Open first-round exit, showing how extreme the surface-to-surface spread was even at his peak.
