Late-blooming Grand Slam breakthrough

Lorenzi’s only run beyond the third round came at the 2017 US Open, where he reached the Round of 16 at age 35. Across his 33 Grand Slam tournaments, that stands alone as his best result.

Most of his Slam career ended in the first round

He finished at R128 in 20 of his 47 Grand Slam matches, and his overall record was 14-33. That means nearly half of his matches ended at the opening hurdle, despite nine seasons of appearances.

2017 was his peak season by far

In 2017 he posted his best Slam year: R16 at the US Open plus R64 at the Australian Open, French Open, and Wimbledon. That was the only season in which he won multiple matches at a single Slam and also the only year with four main-draw appearances all reaching at least R64.

His strongest surface pattern was at the US Open

The US Open produced his best and most frequent deep runs: R16 in 2017, R32 in 2016, R64 in 2014 and 2018, and R32 again in 2019. No other Slam site gave him a result better than R64.

Career arc: from repeated R128 exits to a late top-32 finish

From 2010 through 2013, every Slam result was R128 except one R128-free season was absent; he then improved to R64 in 2014 and 2015, R32 in 2016, and peaked in 2017. After that, his results slipped back to R64 or worse in 2018-2020.
