Amateur-era peak came in 1966

His best Grand Slam result in the Amateur Era was a Wimbledon semifinal in 1966 at age 22. That same era also produced eight quarterfinal finishes, showing a long stretch of deep runs before the Open Era began.

Open-era results were much shallower
