Four quarterfinal runs define his ceiling

Almagro’s best Grand Slam result was a quarterfinal, and he reached that stage four times. Those quarterfinals came at the Australian Open in 2010 and 2013, and at the French Open in 2010 and 2012.

His peak came in a tight 2010-2013 window

All four quarterfinals and all five Round-of-16 finishes were concentrated between 2010 and 2013. In that span he also produced his only semifinal-adjacent consistency, with multiple second-week runs across both clay and hard courts.

French Open was his most productive major

The French Open is the only Slam where he reached the quarterfinals twice, and it also accounts for his other deep runs: five Round-of-16 or better finishes overall there. His French Open results range from R128 in 2004 to Q in 2010 and 2012.

Wimbledon remained his weakest major

Wimbledon produced no result better than Round 3: his best showing there was R32, reached in 2009, 2011, 2012, and 2013. He also exited in R128 five times at Wimbledon, more than at any other Slam.

Late-career decline was sharp after age 30

From age 30 onward, his best Grand Slam result was only R32, achieved at the 2016 US Open and the 2016 French Open. By 2017, his final season, he had fallen to R64 at the French Open and R128 at both the Australian Open and US Open.
