Two French Open runs stand out as her peak

Mercedes Paz’s best Grand Slam results were two R16 finishes, both at the French Open in 1986 and 1990. No other major produced a result better than R32, making Roland Garros clearly her highest ceiling.

Her only second-week breakthrough came early and then repeated four years later

The first R16 came at age 19 in 1986, and the second at age 23 in 1990. Between those peaks, she never advanced beyond R64 at any Slam, so the improvement was isolated rather than sustained.

Wimbledon was her weakest major by results

Across six Wimbledon appearances from 1985 to 1996, she reached only R64 twice, in 1994 and 1996, and exited in R128 four other times. That is a lower peak than her French Open and US Open showings.

Her Slam career was long but heavily front-loaded with early exits

She played 29 Grand Slam tournaments and 42 matches, but 29 of those matches were losses. After reaching R32 at the 1988 French Open, she went through a long stretch of R128 results from 1989 to 1995, aside from the 1990 French Open run.

Her best results came before age 24

All three of her top finishes—R16 twice and R32 once—came between ages 19 and 21, with the R32 at the 1988 French Open. After turning 24, she never advanced past R128 again.
