Peak came at Roland Garros in 2000

His best Grand Slam result was a single round-of-16 run, and it came at the 2000 French Open at age 23. That was also his only result better than the round of 32.

Clay was clearly his strongest surface in the data

All of his deepest runs were at the French Open: one R16, six R32 finishes, and eight R64 finishes. By contrast, his Wimbledon and US Open results never went beyond the round of 32.

He was most productive in 2002-2003

Those two seasons produced his best cluster of results: in 2002 he reached the R32 twice and the R64 once, and in 2003 he again reached the R32 twice. No other year in the table matches that concentration of higher finishes.

Late-career decline was abrupt

After reaching the French Open round of 32 in 2005 at age 28, he went 0-for-4 in 2006 and 0-for-2 in 2007, with every appearance ending in R128. The final two seasons therefore produced six straight first-round exits.

He played 30 Slams but won fewer than half his matches

Across 30 tournaments and 53 matches, his record was 23-30, a 43% win rate. That volume of appearances still left him outside the top tier in the comparison tables: #487 of 2307 in the Open Era and #32 of 112 among Spaniards.
