Peak Slam run came in 2020

Thiem’s only Grand Slam title came at the 2020 US Open, and it was paired with his second Australian Open final that same season. Across the four majors in 2020, he also reached the French Open quarterfinals, making it his strongest Slam year.

French Open was his most productive major

His best results include one title, three finals, and two semifinals, and the French Open accounts for all five of those deep runs: semifinals in 2016 and 2017, finals in 2018 and 2019, and a quarterfinal in 2020. No other Slam shows that concentration of late-stage results.

Early career breakthrough at the US Open

Thiem reached the US Open round of 16 in both 2014 and 2016, then improved to the semifinals in 2017 and the quarterfinals in 2018. That sequence shows his earliest sustained Grand Slam progress came first in New York.

Late-career decline was abrupt

After reaching the Australian Open round of 16 in 2021, he did not advance past the first round in any Slam appearance from 2021 through 2024 except the 2023 US Open round of 64. The 2024 season ended with two straight R128 exits.

Career volume and efficiency were both substantial

Over 37 Grand Slam tournaments, Thiem played 111 matches and posted a 75-36 record, a 68% win rate. That output places him #38 in the Open Era overall and #11 among players with overlapping careers.
