Peak came in a two-year French Open surge

Pecci’s only final and only semifinal both came at the French Open, in 1979 and 1981 respectively. Those two runs stand out against a broader Grand Slam record that otherwise topped out at the round of 16 once.

French Open was clearly his strongest major
