Only one second-week appearance, and it came at Roland Garros

Across 20 Grand Slam tournaments, Vajda’s best result was just one R32 finish, achieved at the 1991 French Open at age 26. Every other listed run ended in R64 or R128, so he never advanced beyond the third round.

French Open was his most productive major

He played the French Open eight times and reached at least R64 in five of those appearances, including one R32 and three R64s. That is a stronger pattern than at the other Slams, where his best results were only one R64 at Wimbledon and one R64 at the US Open.

His deepest runs clustered in 1985-1991

All of Vajda’s better results came between ages 20 and 26: R64 at the 1985 French Open and US Open, R64 at the 1987 and 1988 French Opens, R64 at Wimbledon in 1989, and R32 at the 1991 French Open. His final two appearances in 1992 were both R128 exits.

He was a regular but rarely a winner

Vajda compiled a 9-20 Grand Slam match record over 29 matches, which matches the table’s 31% win rate. That means he won fewer than one in three matches despite appearing in 20 tournaments.

His Slam schedule was heavily weighted toward Paris and New York

Of his 20 Grand Slam appearances, eight were at the French Open and six at the US Open, compared with four at Wimbledon and two at the Australian Open. The results table shows his only Australian Open finishes were both R128, while his only Wimbledon finish better than R128 was one R64 in 1989.
