Peak came in 1973 with a semifinal run

Sawamatsu’s best Grand Slam result was the 1973 Australian Open semifinal, achieved at age 21. That season also produced her strongest overall Slam profile: four appearances and her only run beyond the quarterfinal stage.

Her best year by volume was 1975

She played all four majors in 1975, more than in any other season shown. The results were three quarterfinals and one third-round exit, making it her most consistently deep Slam year.

French Open was her most productive major overall

Across seven French Open appearances, she reached at least the round of 16 three times: R16 in 1971, R32 in 1973, and a quarterfinal in 1975. That is a stronger cumulative pattern than at Wimbledon or the US Open.

She improved sharply from teenage exits to early-20s contention

At ages 17 and 18, her Slam results were R128, R128, and R32. By ages 20 to 24, she was regularly reaching the second week, including an R16, a semifinal, and three quarterfinals.

Her career was short but efficient at the majors

In 23 Grand Slam tournaments, she won 45 of 68 matches for a 66% record. That output placed her #34 among 406 women with overlapping careers, despite a Grand Slam span limited to 1968-1975.
