French Open was the clear center of his Slam career

He played 11 of his 18 Grand Slam tournaments at the French Open, and all four of his deepest runs came there: two semifinals, two quarterfinals, plus one R16 and one R32. His only other notable result outside Paris was a 1977 US Open R16.

Peak years came in a tight 1977-1984 window

His best results were concentrated between ages 24 and 31. He reached the French Open quarterfinals in 1977 and 1979, then the semifinals in 1982 and 1983, before dropping to R16 in 1984 and R64 in 1985.

He produced his strongest stretch in consecutive French Opens

From 1977 through 1984, every French Open appearance improved or matched a meaningful level at least once: Q in 1977 and 1979, then S in 1982 and 1983. That run is interrupted only by early exits in 1980 and 1981, both R128.

His non-Paris results were limited and mostly early-round exits

Across seven non-French Open appearances, he reached the second week only once, the 1977 US Open R16. The rest were R64 or R32 finishes, including Wimbledon R64 in both 1974 and 1979.

His career ended with a sharp decline after the semifinal peak

After back-to-back French Open semifinals at ages 29 and 30, his next three Slam results were R64, R16, and R64. That sequence shows a clear drop from his peak level in 1982-1983 to his final appearances in 1984-1985.
