Peak came in a three-year stretch, not a breakthrough run

Tarango’s best Grand Slam results were concentrated in 1997-1999: he reached the round of 32 four times in that span, including both 1997 Slams and the 1999 Australian Open. Outside those years, his best result was usually round of 64 or worse.

Wimbledon was his weakest major by results

Across his career, Wimbledon produced no result better than round of 32. He went out in round of 128 five times there, and his only other Wimbledon finishes were round of 64 in 1998-2000 and round of 32 in 1995.

Australian Open showed the widest range

His Australian Open results ranged from round of 128 to round of 32. That includes a clear high point in 1999, when he reached round of 32 at age 30, after earlier exits at round of 128 in 1994, 1995, 1997, 1998, 2000, and 2001.

He was most productive in his late 20s

Tarango’s strongest cluster came from ages 27 to 30, when he produced his only round-of-32 finishes at the US Open, French Open, Australian Open, and Wimbledon. By age 31 and 32, his results had dropped back to round of 64 or round of 128.

His career ended with a sharp decline

After reaching round of 64 at Wimbledon in 2000, his final Grand Slam appearance was a round-of-128 exit at the 2001 Australian Open at age 32. That closed a career that finished with 29 wins and 46 losses across 75 matches.
