Only one Grand Slam quarterfinal, but a long run of consistency

Across 63 tournaments and 134 matches, Fognini’s best result is just one quarterfinal, yet he also reached seven round-of-16s and 16 round-of-32s. That combination points to frequent mid-week presence without many deep runs.

Peak stretch came in his early 30s

His strongest sequence is clustered from 2018 to 2021: he reached the round of 16 in 2018 Australian Open, 2018 French Open, 2019 French Open, 2020 Australian Open, and 2021 Australian Open. In that four-year span, he never fell earlier than the round of 32 at a Slam.

French Open was his most productive major

Among the four Slams, the French Open produced his only quarterfinal and his best repeated results: one Q, one R16, four R32s, four R64s, and four R128s. No other major matches that breadth of deeper finishes.

Wimbledon and the US Open show different ceilings

Wimbledon gave him his best run to the round of 32 five times, while the US Open produced his only round-of-16 outside the French Open and Australian Open, in 2015. The two events together account for much of his middle-round output, but not his deepest peak.

Late-career decline is visible after 2021

From 2022 through 2025, every Slam result was R128, R64, or R32, with no round-of-16 appearances. That is a clear drop from the 2018-2021 stretch, when he repeatedly reached the second week.
