Peak came at Wimbledon in 1991

Wheaton’s only semifinal run was at Wimbledon in 1991, when he was 22. That same season also included a US Open round-of-16, making 1991 his clear Grand Slam peak.

Best results were concentrated on grass and hard courts

His top four Slam results were the 1991 Wimbledon semifinal, the 1990 Australian Open quarterfinal, the 1990 US Open quarterfinal, and the 1996 US Open round of 16. Those results show his deepest runs came at Wimbledon, the Australian Open, and the US Open, not at Roland Garros.

French Open was his weakest major

Across his career, his French Open results were R128 in 1991 and 1993, R64 in 1990, 1992, 1994, and 1996, and only once R32 in 1995. He never reached the second week in Paris.

1995 was his most complete Slam season

In 1995 he reached at least the round of 32 at all four majors: Australian Open R16, French Open R32, Wimbledon R32, and US Open R64. That was his only season with four completed Slam appearances all inside the top 64.

Career ended with a sharp late decline

After reaching the US Open round of 16 in 1996 at age 27, his final three Slam appearances were all early exits: US Open R128 in 1997, then Australian Open R64, Wimbledon R128, and US Open R128 in 1998 at ages 28-29.
